Business Administration Apprentice – Commercial Property

Location: Bury, Greater Manchester
Contract: Apprenticeship
Working hours: Full-time
Department: Commercial Property

Start your career with AFG Law

AFG Law is looking for a motivated and organised Business Administration Apprentice to join our Commercial Property team in Bury.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to take their first steps into a professional working environment while gaining practical experience within an established law firm.

You will work alongside solicitors and other members of our Commercial Property team, providing day-to-day administrative support and helping to ensure matters progress efficiently. You will gain experience of working with clients, solicitors, estate agents and other professionals while developing valuable administrative and organisational skills.

You do not need previous experience working in a law firm. We are looking for someone who is keen to learn, takes pride in their work and is comfortable working as part of a busy team.

What will you be doing?

As a Business Administration Apprentice, you will provide administrative support to the Commercial Property department and assist with the day-to-day management of files.

Your duties will include:

  • Providing general administrative support to the department.
  • Opening new files and assisting with the initial administration of matters.
  • Liaising with solicitors, estate agents and other parties where required.
  • Preparing, printing, scanning and formatting documents.
  • Handling incoming and outgoing telephone calls, correspondence and post.
  • Organising legal documents, case files and records.
  • Maintaining and updating electronic filing and case management systems.
  • Scheduling appointments, meetings and conference calls.
  • Answering and directing telephone calls and enquiries professionally.
  • Greeting clients and visitors to our Bury office.
  • Assisting with the management of office supplies and equipment.
  • Supporting the team with additional administrative projects and tasks when required.

You will receive support while learning how a busy legal department operates and will have opportunities to develop your skills as your experience grows.

What are we looking for?

You do not need to already know how to work in a Commercial Property department. What matters is that you have the right attitude, are willing to learn and can demonstrate good organisational and communication skills.

Applicants should have:

  • GCSE English Language at grade 4–9 or an equivalent qualification.
  • A good working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • The ability to handle confidential and sensitive information appropriately.
  • A professional and friendly manner when dealing with clients, visitors and colleagues.
  • The ability to follow instructions while also using your own initiative.
  • A proactive and adaptable approach to work.
  • The ability to work independently when required and contribute positively as part of a team.

As you will be working with legal documents and client information, accuracy, confidentiality and attention to detail will be particularly important.

Develop your skills in a law firm

An apprenticeship is an opportunity to learn while gaining genuine workplace experience.

At AFG Law, you will work within our Commercial Property team rather than carrying out training in isolation. This means you will see how legal matters are managed in practice and develop experience of the systems, processes and professional standards involved in working within a law firm.

You will work alongside experienced colleagues who can support your development and help you build confidence in your role.

For someone considering a longer-term career in legal administration, property or the wider legal sector, the position provides a strong starting point.

Employee benefits

Following successful completion of your three-month probation period, you will have access to a range of AFG Law employee benefits, including:

  • 25 days’ annual leave in addition to bank holidays.
  • Additional annual leave based on length of service.
  • One day’s annual leave for your birthday.
  • One annual recharge day.
  • Two paid volunteering days each year.
  • The opportunity to buy and sell annual leave.
  • Annual Christmas company shutdown.
  • Attendance bonus.
  • Healthcare Cash Plan.
  • Opportunities to contribute ideas through our Innovation Group.
  • Employee gift scheme for important dates and milestones.
  • Refer a client incentive.
  • Refer a colleague incentive.
  • Continuous learning and development opportunities.
  • Social Committee events.

Why join AFG Law?

Joining AFG Law as an apprentice gives you the opportunity to develop practical skills within a professional environment while becoming part of an established legal team.

We want our apprentices to develop, contribute and become confident members of the firm. You will have the opportunity to learn from experienced colleagues, gain an understanding of how a Commercial Property department operates and build skills that can support your future career.
