On 24 May Emma Cordock, Emma Green and Heather Loynd sold raffle tickets at the Super Josh festival to help raise money for The Joshua Wilson Brain Tumour Charity.

Heather smashed her first 10k at the Greater Manchester 10k today for Home Start, Bury. Heather and Emma, along with 11 other runners, managed to raise in excess of £1,500.

It is believed that an Islamic divorce is necessary to terminate the nikah contract to make it certain a divorce has been effective even if there has been a legal divorce as well. It is believed that human jurisdiction cannot supersede Sharia law. English courts cannot pronounce Islamic divorces and so Muslims have to apply to a Sharia Council to obtain a Sharia divorce.
Emma Cordock and Emma Green attended the National Resolution Conference in Brighton. This is the 2nd year in which Emma was asked by the committee to co-present a workshop on legal aid, the recent changes and how to adapt your practice in light of the changes.
Before Christmas, Emma and Natalie started their training for the Paris Marathon; they had no chocolate, cakes, bad food or alcohol and followed the official marathon plan completely. It was a tough four months but it was worth it for their first ever marathon. They raised over £1,000.00 in sponsorship and raised awareness for The Joshua Wilson Brain Tumour Charity. They are also competing in a number of other events throughout the year to raise more funds.
AFG LAW hosted a fun-filled charity night in February at Bury Town Hall. Proceeds from the evening totalled £3,000.00 and will be split equally between Women’s Housing Action Group (WHAG), Bury Hospice and Early Break.

Celebrating her success and commitment, and further strengthening the family law provision at AFG LAW, Emma Green becomes an assistant solicitor this month. She will add her considerable skills and determination to the Bolton-based family law team. She joined AFG LAW in July 2012 and was offered a training contract in 2013. Emma has spent the last eighteen months working in family, civil and property law but will now join the family law department.

Local Bury College art student wins AFG LAW desgin competition by submitting the winning mural design to hang in the entrance corridor of AFG LAW's Market Street office. The collaboration is one of several projects initiated by AFG LAW to build stronger and mutually beneficial linkages within their local communities.
AFG LAW launches Bury Professionals networking lunch to offer professionals a new informal, non-competitive networking group to share experiences and industry insights.
Bury Professionals networking lunches take place on the second wednesday of every month at Santino Restarant on Manchester Old Road. There are no joining fees - you only pay £10 on the door to cover your lunch. Due to the group's informal, non-competitive nature membership is not exclusive and all professionals are welcome.
