Nicola is a solicitor in AFG LAW’s Family Department and brings a wealth experience.
Nicola qualified as a solicitor in 1996, after receiving all-round foundation training in conveyancing, wills and probate, crime and family law. She has also been a qualified solicitor mediator since 2003.
She was fortunate enough to train with two solicitors who have gone on to become senior District Judges in Chester and Liverpool.
After completing her training, she specialised in family law, focusing on family finances after separation and divorce. She set up her own practice in Cheshire in 2001 and after 22 years as a sole practitioner/consultant, she is now an associate at AFG LAW, specialising in family, property and finance.
Nicola specialises in helping cohabiting and married families regulate their financial arrangements, writing cohabitation and marital agreements (prenups and postnups) to help couples and their families clarify what they intend should happen to family property and money if they move in together, separate or die.
She helps to resolve issues when couples separate and need clarity in understanding how the law affects them so that they can negotiate privately between themselves, as well as making divorce agreements (known as financial orders or consent orders) legally binding.
Nicola also provides a full representation service for divorcing and separating couples at court when that is the most appropriate route for them.
As a member of Resolution, she follows a Code of Practice.
