Background

Marie Gorton joined AFG Law in September 2023, having spent six years with another local firm. Prior, Marie spent 12 years practicing family law in Lancashire.

Marie qualified as a Chartered Legal Executive in 2012 and as a solicitor in 2018.

As of January 2025, Marie is a consultant for AFG LAW’s Family Department and brings a wealth of experience to the team.

Services Provided

Marie is a family law specialist who represents clients in respect of all aspects of family law, including:

  • Divorce and Dissolution of Civil Partnerships
  • Financial matters
  • Private Law Children Act proceedings
  • Care Proceedings
  • Domestic abuse.

 

Outside of work

Marie is passionate about supporting clients to achieve the best outcome in their case and prides herself on her empathetic approach. She is an experienced advocate who will vigorously present her client’s case before the Court. Clients appreciate Marie’s ability to provide clear and concise legal advice, whist managing expectations throughout the legal process.

Marie is a Resolution Accredited Specialist (Domestic Abuse and Private Law Children Act Proceedings).

Away from the office, Marie enjoys playing netball, Irish dancing, and spending time with family and friends
