Emma Cordock

Emma Cordock joined AFG LAW in November 2007. She qualified as a fellow of the Institute of Legal Executives in June 2008 and subsequently qualified as a solicitor in April 2011. Emma became a Director at AFG LAW in January 2017.

Emma is a member of the Law Society Children Law Accreditation Scheme. She specialises in representing children in complex public and private law proceedings via their appointed children’s guardian or by representing children directly.

Emma is also a High Court advocate having gained the Higher Rights of Audience Certificate which enables her to represent her clients and children in matters such as Deprivation of Liberty Orders and applications made under the Inherent Jurisdiction.

Emma is a member Resolution (www.resolution.org.uk) and co-chairs Resolution’s Legal Aid Committee.

In 2019 Emma and Cath, who is also a director at AFG LAW, became Joint Heads of the family department. During their leadership of the family department, the family team has gone from strength to strength including winning Manchester Law Society’s Family Law Firm of the Year in 2020.

Emma and Cath support and encourage the family department’s strong sense of social responsibility which has included contributing to the thousands of pounds raised by the firm through both organising and sponsorship charity events, and providing free legal advice clinics for causes and organisations which are close to the work that the department carries out.

Emma is also the Joint Head of the Billing Department at AFG Law which specialises in the billing of Legal Aid matters.
